The last time this data was collected they cared for at least 117 men and 210 women in a one year period that received Medicare benefits. I've been lucky enough to be a newspaper reporter for more than 40 years, covering everything from human-interest stories to medical news, farming to fracking, personal columns to county government. The nursing was great, and they were very supportive and attentive. They have very clean facilities and honest people. The only time my Dad got attention is when he got very agitated or we visited. The average age of residents at this skilled nursing facility is about 78. Snakes come in from out back if you sleep near out back door. Cleaners leave room floor dirty under bed or under sink in room.

My impression is that the staff is friendly and considerate of the patient’s and family’s concerns. My wife was assessed and a tailored PT/OT program seemed to have devised just for her which I like a lot, especially having had complications at the previous rehab. The staff seem to leverage on medication to help PT and OT go more smoothly. The staff also seemed to be willing to cross the responsibility line to help the patient.

Concerned about COVID-19?

Family member was kept there, without ability to visit, in lockdown unit even after expert said to move to other unit. Continued to double charge, refuse to call family members, refuse medication, and refuse actual medical care. Do not use them, you will be so sorry, it is hellish. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services does their best to provide a fair assessment of every Nursing Home, but please note these ratings are a snapshot in time. Then, there’s the experience Francesca Johnson described, which was nothing short of bizarre. She said the facility is so short-staffed that when it came time for workers to contact family members, the duties were divided among everyone—including at least one member of the maintenance staff. She also noted the time the facility told families of the first four deaths and widespread infection.

It’s a brighter, more welcoming facility than some of them. I only met a limited number of staff members and had a tour, but it’s enough that we do definitely feel comfortable having him on a waiting list there. I saw a calendar of activities posted but it was just a walk through tour, so I don’t really know. They had a very large room in the center of the wing with oversized, comfortable-looking couches and chairs and a big-screen TV. I know there was a bookshelf in that area, and a separate dining area, which was very nice.

Our uncle was in same clothes for two days and no one care. His clothes in closet have other resident name and no one care. She was not cared for properly and relied on phone calls to me to handle various problems with the administrators. Unfortunately, I was not able to visit her in her room during the pandemic to observe what was going on. She was left lying in her bed most of the day until I suggested she sit in a wheelchair to move her muscles btwn physical therapy appointments which were infrequent. On top of various problems with her physical therapy, medications, inadequate meals, her laundry was mishandled and some of her clothes missing.

When Banks learned earlier this week that her mother had tested positive for COVID-19, she was understandably upset, then impressed by Carriage Hill’s response. Olivia Banks has nothing but good things to say about the way the staff has cared for her mother, Susan Horne, who is 72. Horne moved to the facility in February, after she fell and fractured her neck, back and hip. She got the therapy she needed to recover and enjoyed being around others her age.

Strongly encourage family involvement with the staff whenever possible. I was very pleased when my Great Grandmother was residing at Carriage Hill. I was also very pleased with the comfortability of the facility and how the residents AND the family of the residents were treated. I concur that there is no leadership nor caring, nor medical care provided.
